Caregiving Challenges

One of the most important things that caregivers can do is to take care of their own physical and emotional health.  That is the reason that this caregivers support group was started. Taking care of a partner or spouse can be a full time job.  It is sometimes difficult to also focus on taking care of yourself. Caregiving can be very isolating and being an active member of a support group provides an opportunity to socialize with others who are dealing with the same problems that you are and who understand your frustrations and challenges.

Our Support Group

The Roanoke Parkinson’s Caregivers group meets monthly to discuss issues about caregiving, to share resources and information, and to offer empathy and support to our members.  At this time the group is open only to caregivers who are supporting someone with Parkinson’s disease or one of the Parkinson’s Plus syndromes.
